Mike will be opening Knology Clearwater Seafood & Blues Fest '09 . Opening with The Nelms Chavers Band 5:30 to 6:15pm / Malcolm & The House Rockers/ and Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes/ The city of Clearwater’s Parks and Rec department has produced the Knology Clearwater Sea Blues Festival since it debuted in 2006. The more than 20 hours of live music over three days features a strong lineup of performers from the blues and blues-related genres.

The Nelms / Chavers Band isn’t hanging around the Clearwater Seafood & Blues fest we gots to haul ass and get down to Bradenton, FL and set up so we can rock the house at Cork’s Cigar Bar located at 425 12th St W, Bradenton, FL 34206. We start at 9pm and go until closing so come on out and listen to some hot guitar and traditional blues.

The Nelms / Chavers Band

Josh Nelms & Mike Chavers have been playing around the Tampa Bay area for the last 15 years. They have performed & recorded with some of the best blues men from the area like Sarasota Slim, Jimmy Grizwald, Charlie Morris, T C Carr, Damon Fowler and many more.

Mike is originally from Niagara Falls, NY. He started traveling with tour bands in the early 70’s and moved to N.Y. City in 1976 and started writing and performing in the New York original showcase circuit.

Mike’s band named Sweetwater was playing at The Apollo Theater, The Other End, and Kenny’s Castaway, and the Bottom Line. Mike started working with Jimmy Norman who wrote Time is On My Side – The Rolling Stones. Mike also hooked up With Carl Gardner the founder of the Coasters and worked with them for 6 years. After moving to St Petersburg Mike met Joey Dee – “The Peppermint Twist” guy and toured with Joey for 2 years.

Josh is a Florida Cracker born right here in Plant City. Josh is a fiery guitarist and will shred and barbeque the music and serve it up with a special sauce that will delight everyone.

Spoons AKA Brent Winner is holding down the beat playing the drums and singing the blues.

The band plays a unique mix of blues, soul and roots music. In the bands show you can hear anything from Louie Jordan, Muddy Water, & Johnny Cash to Louie Prima, Wilson Pickett & The Rolling Stones.
